HTML (shkurtim i Hypertext Markup Language ) është gjuha markup ( gjuhë me shënime ) mbizotëruese për krijimin e faqeve të rrjetit . HTML lejon autorët e faqeve të internetit të formulojnë dokumente që mund të kuptohen nga sisteme të ndryshme si PC, Unix, Macintosh , Windows etj, dhe që mund të shikohen duke përdorur programe të quajtura shfletues ( browser) , p.sh; browser në kompjuterin tuaj mundë jetë Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera , Google Chrome etj. HTML është e përbërë nga kode ose ndryshe nga sisteme shenjash (karaktere) të cilat janë pergjegjëse për paraqitjen e faqes së internetit.
