This is an experimental technology
Because this technology's specification has not stabilized, check the compatibility table for usage in various browsers. Also note that the syntax and behavior of an experimental technology is subject to change in future versions of browsers as the specification changes.
Non-standard
This feature is non-standard and is not on a standards track. Do not use it on production sites facing the Web: it will not work for every user. There may also be large incompatibilities between implementations and the behavior may change in the future.
The read-only name
property of the FileSystemEntry
interface returns a DOMString
specifying the entry's name; this is the entry within its parent directory (the last component of the path as indicated by the fullPath
property).
Syntax
var name = FileSystemEntry.name;
Value
A DOMString
indicating the entry's name.
Example
This example shows a function called isFileWithExtension()
which returns true if the specified FileSystemEntry
is both a file and the file's name ends with a given extension.
function isFileWithExtension(entry, extension) { return (entry.isFile && entry.name.endsWith("." + extension)); }
