عنصر <hr> بلغة html يقوم بعمل فاصل افقى بين قطعتين من النص المكتوب ،كمثال على ذلك (فاصل بين مشهدين مختلفين او فصل و اخر بقصة ،اوتحول فى الموضوع المكتوب ) .فى الاصدارات و النسخ السابقة بلغة ال(html) يظهر كمسطرة افقية يفصل بين الموضوعين (خط افقى) و فى بعض المتصفحات البصرية للغة مازال يعرض هكذا . و لكنه حاليا يعرف من حيث الدلالة لا من حيث الظهور او العرض .
